Data-Driven Web-Based Patching Management Tool Using Multi-Sensor Pavement Structure Measurements

Automating pavement maintenance suggestions systems is challenging, especially for actionable recommendations such as patching location, depth, and priority. It a common practice among state agencies to manually inspect road segments of interest decide requirements based on the condition index (PCI). However, standalone PCI only evaluates surface which, coupled with variability in human perception distress, limits accuracy quality current practices. In this case, there need multi-sensor data integrated standardized distress ratings. This study explores estimating appropriate strategy (i.e., quantity) by integrating structural assessment ratings distress. particular, it combines parameters falling weight deflectometer deflections parameters, international roughness index, cracking density, better representation overall conditions. Then, pavement-specific, threshold-based suggestion algorithm designed suggest operations. The thresholds were determined reliability concept verified number ratio. threshold values then used create tables. A web-based Patching Management Tool (PMT) was an interactive tool visualize these maps analyze using geographical graphs. PMT validated right-of-way images obtained from three-dimensional laser sensors, could successfully capture localized distresses existing pavements.
